In August 2024, our beloved rector of seven years accepted a call to a new church in another part of Virginia. Our discernment committee was commissioned in mid-September 2024 and our first meeting was a day-long retreat at the nearby home of a committee member. It was a chance to prayerfully get to know one another and our transition consultant from the Episcopal Diocese, Karen Salter.
The Discernment Committee meets on Monday evening, both in person at Grace Church and via Zoom.
Our first congregational meeting on October 27 gathered input on key ministries and desired rector qualities. A survey was distributed in person and online, followed by two focus group meetings in January to review results and gather further feedback. After many hours crafting job postings in three formats, we now look forward to the interview process in spring 2025.

Is God calling you to journey with us?
Grace Church in The Plains seeks a rector who will serve as a pastoral leader, community builder, and inspiring preacher—a shepherd who nurtures the spiritual growth of our congregation, strengthens our connections with the wider community, and leads us with wisdom, warmth, and faithfulness.
